Marketing Manager - Interview with Amanda Coscette

If you’ve been following my work for a while, you probably know I wear a lot of hats as a tattoo artist and business owner. What you might not see is the person helping me keep it all together behind the scenes: Amanda. She’s been such an important part of my world lately - keeping things organized, helping me grow, and pushing me to think bigger. More than just “an assistant,” she’s someone I trust with both my business and my creative vision, and I’m really excited for you to get to know her through this interview. Having someone in your corner who understands both the creative and the practical side of running a business is rare, and Amanda brings that balance every single day. I can honestly say that her support has given me the space to focus more on my art, and that’s invaluable.

BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Hi, I’m Amanda Coscette, Owner and CEO of Southern Oregon Marketing Group (SOMG). I’m bilingual, bicultural, and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community with over seven years of marketing experience. This year, my business partner and I have traveled near and far to help our clients boost their businesses, and even took over and ran the Oregon Chocolate Festival, and job exploration event, Careers in Gear! My passion is helping the underrepresented and pushing the status quo to create space for more voices at the table. When I’m not in work mode, you can usually find me enjoying live music, traveling with friends, or hunting down the next best watering hole while exploring Southern Oregon’s trails.

HOW DID YOU GET CONNECTED WITH JAIDEN TATTOO?

I’ve been a fan of Jaiden’s work for years, always blown away by her artistry and creativity. When I saw her post that she was looking for an assistant, I didn’t think twice, and applied right away. Eight months later, I’m so glad I did. Working with Jaiden has been such an inspiring experience, and I’ve loved learning from her, from photography skills to the ins and outs of running a successful tattoo business.

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU WHEN YOU’RE IN CREATIVE/WORK MODE?

When I’m in creative/work mode, it all starts with my iced Americano, black, extra ice, non-negotiable. I like to set up in a quiet space, but I always have the low hum of a crime show playing in the background for, you know, emotional support. I’m a big fan of checklists, so I’ll organize all my clients into separate queues, then work my way down the list, checking things off one by one. It keeps me focused and gives me that satisfying little win with every task I complete.

WHAT VALUES OR PRINCIPLES DRIVE YOUR WORK OR BUSINESS?

At Southern Oregon Marketing Group, my work is guided by values that put people first, building genuine connections, championing equity, and creating space for underrepresented voices. I believe in sustainable, long-term growth and love challenging the status quo, all while staying deeply connected to our community. For me, marketing isn’t just about promoting a brand, it’s about elevating our community with intention and heart.

WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU THE MOST RIGHT NOW?

Right now, I’m deeply inspired by mi gente Latino, the Latin community. Our resilience, strength, and determination in the face of our current political climate. As a first-generation American with my mother from the Dominican Republic, I couldn’t be more proud of where I come from. That pride fuels me every day and makes me feel more empowered than ever to represent my culture, amplify our voices, and create spaces where our stories are celebrated.

WHAT’S SOMETHING YOU’VE LEARNED THE HARD WAY THAT’S HELPED SHAPE YOUR JOURNEY?

One of the hardest lessons I’ve learned was having to leave a job I truly loved because of a toxic work environment and inept leadership. It was scary to speak up, especially in front of the entire workplace, but I was proud to call out the inappropriate behavior. That experience taught me to trust my instincts and recognize red flags early in any working relationship, a skill that’s shaped how I choose collaborations and protect my well-being today.

WHAT MAKES YOUR SPACE, TEAM, OR ENVIRONMENT SPECIAL?

What makes our environment special is the balance my business partner and I bring to the table, we couldn’t be more opposite. She loves bright colors and high energy, while I’m drawn to moody, melancholy tones. She thrives on public speaking, and I shine behind the scenes. Our different perspectives and creative approaches might seem like opposites, but together they create a beautiful balance that makes our work stronger and more dynamic.

A huge thank you to Amanda for taking the time to share her story and for everything she does to support me and Jaiden Tattoo. Having someone so dedicated behind the scenes allows me to focus on what I love most - creating meaningful tattoos for my clients. Working with an assistant who understands both the creative process and the business side has been a game-changer for my growth as a tattoo artist.

If you’re curious about what it takes to grow as a professional tattoo artist, manage a tattoo business, and balance the art with the logistics, I hope this interview gave you a little insight. Amanda’s perspective shows just how valuable it is to have the right support in place while building a career in tattooing.
